This collection contains two receipts from Thos. W. Bell to Rutersville College for his tutorial services. Rutersville College was the first Protestant and Methodist college in Texas and opened in February of 1840. It later became Texas University. The first receipt is dated December 4, 1841; the second receipt is dated December 11, 1841 and includes tuition and books.
